How to file a public comment

A written comment on the record carries more weight than most people expect, and it takes about twenty minutes.

  • Step one

    Find the docket the comment attaches to

    Comments are filed against a specific permit or application, by number. Filing against the wrong one usually means it is never read. Current docket numbers

  • Step two

    State what you have observed, with dates

    What you have seen, heard, measured or been told, and when. A dated first-hand account from a nearby resident carries more weight on the record than a general objection.

  • Step three

    File it with the correct office before the deadline

    DRMS filing address, email, and portal link
    County contact, where relevant

  • Step four

    Send us a copy

    We keep a public file of comments residents have filed, published with permission. It shows what the community actually said, in its own words, rather than how it was later summarized.

Signing does not say you are for the mine or against it. It says decisions about the Cross-Caribou Mines should be made on documented facts, in the open, with Nederland in the room.
