The site

The Caribou mining district lies in the mountains west of Nederland, Colorado. Silver brought people here in the 1860s and a town grew up around the workings. The ore was worked out and the town emptied. What was left underground stayed there.
The Cross-Caribou Mines are what remain of that district under a single operator today. American Clean Resources Group holds them. The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety regulates what happens on the ground.
The rest of this page is the paperwork behind those three sentences. Where we cannot yet source something, the line is left blank rather than filled with a summary.
